Nectar Mattress UK Review

Our Review

The Nectar Classic is known in the US for its affordability and ability to accommodate different body types and sleeping styles. Nectar Sleep now has a UK version of the same mattress. Although the UK version varies slightly in construction, it aims to offer a similar performance to the US model.

For this Nectar mattress UK review, we deep dive into its materials, pros, cons, and who it’s best suited for.

Nectar Classic Mattress Build and Quality

Nectar Sleep says they manufacture the Nectar Classic mattress in the UK. The manufacturer says that the materials are sourced globally, mainly in Asia. Regarding quality, the three foams used for this mattress are CertiPUR certified. CertiPUR certification means that they have been tested to meet rigorous strict standards for content, emissions, performance, and durability- and that’s a good thing.

Something else about the Nectar Classic is that it’s been certified as a climate-neutral product. In other words, the Nectar Classic not only avoids nasty materials, but it also ships to you carbon neutral.

Thickness

The Nectar Classic mattress in the UK has a depth of 25cm. This is a standard thickness for mattresses in this price range in the UK.

Firmness

The Nectar Classic UK has a medium-firm feel. Our mattress review team rated it 6 to 6.5 on the mattress firmness scale. Nectar Sleep describes this firmness as “just right.” The mattress will feel a bit firm when you first lie on it. But it will get softer as the memory foam reacts to your body heat and weight.

For those who love the traditional memory foam feel, the Nectar Classic has it. This is a feeling of being cocooned in a soft cradle. This feeling of sleeping ‘in’ the mattress- rather than on it- is great for relieving pressure points and stopping motion transfer. However, some say they feel stuck in the mattress when they want to turn. But this complaint is usually common with people who toss and turn a lot at night.

The Nectar Classic has a nice balance of comfort and support, making it great for most side and back sleepers. For stomach sleeping, we’d recommend it only to individuals weighing 10 stones and below.

Nectar Classic Mattress Construction

Quilted Cooling Cover

The Nectar Classic mattress has a quilted cooling cover made of polyester. It has a circular knit design that gives it a thick and cozy feel. Nectar Sleep says that this cover is custom designed to draw heat away from you, allowing you to sleep cooler. This cover is removable, but Nectar discourages putting it in the washing machine.

Comfort Layer

Beneath the cover is what Nectar calls the Dynamic support layer. This layer of soft foam lets you sink into the mattress to hold you in a pressure-relieving hug. This layer is breathable and is meant to regulate body temperature.

Contour Foam

Below that, you get to a 2.5cm layer of memory foam that allows you to sink further into the mattress. This layer gives the Nectar Classic its traditional memory foam feel. It makes this one of the best mattresses for people who experience shoulder and hip pain issues when sleeping.

Base Layer

The base layer of the Nectar Classic mattress is a high-density layer of poly foam. This layer is the firmest of the three because it brings support and durability to the mattress. Uniquely, this base layer is zoned, so it offers more support and sinkage in strategic locations for proper spinal alignment. This base also has multiple lines cut widthwise. These are meant to boost airflow and help with cooling.

Trial, Return, and Warranty Policies

365-Night Home Trial

The Nectar Classic memory foam mattress comes with a 365-night home trial. In our experience, you only need 1-2 months to decide whether a mattress is working for you. But there’s no harm in having a whole year to decide. If you feel that the Nectar Classic isn’t working for you within the 365-night window, Nectar will help locate a donation center near you and refund your money.

Forever Warranty

Nectar’s “forever warranty” is the longest we have seen. Most mattresses have 10-20-year warranties. With Nectar, your mattress is covered for as long as you own it. For the first 10 years, Nectar will replace your mattress with a new one. After the 10th year, Nectar will decide whether to replace, repair, or recover the mattress.

What Other Reviewers Say

Based on expert mattress reviewers' feedback, it’s evident that the Nectar Classic mattress is loved. Most reviewers agree that this mattress is a great choice for anyone who appreciates the classic body hug of memory foam. Others recommend the Nectar Classic to buyers hoping for a healthier sleep setup- thanks to its CertiPUR and carbon neutral certifications.

A few of the complaints that we came across were about the cover, which can’t be thrown in the washing machine. Others note that the Nectar Classic can be cumbersome to move around because it has no handles.

Despite these wiggles, most expert reviewers and buyers agree that the Nectar Classic mattress offers good value for money.

Conclusion

The Nectar Classic is among a few other mattresses that feature the conforming feel of traditional memory foam. Most manufacturers today are preferring bouncy foams that create the feeling of sleeping ‘on’ the mattress. That said, if you prefer the signature body-hug of Visco elastic foam, then the Nectar Classic will make an incredible choice.

This mattress performs really well on most fronts, including motion isolation, edge support, temperature regulation, and value for money.

Don’t worry if you fear buying mattresses online. Remember that you have a whole year to try it before deciding whether to keep or return it. And returns are free.
